Today Nintendo took to its social media channels to announce a brand new Nintendo Direct broadcast, but it’s likely not what many would expect.

According to the announcement, the presentation will air on August 18 at 3:00 p.m. PDT, which is equivalent to 6:00 p.m. EDT, 11:00 p.m. BST, or midnight CEST depending on where you live, and will last roughly 10 minutes.

Yet, it’ll be a tour of the new museum dedicated to Nintendo that will open this fall in Kyoto, Japan.

The beloved console manufacturer also clarified that the Direct won’t include any game announcement or any mention of the successor of the Nintendo Switch.

The opening of the museum was announced in 2021 and it’ll showcase the history of the company. It was built at the location of the Uji Ogura plant where Nintendo used to manufacture playing cards at the beginning of its history.

Construction ended in May this year, and the company hopes that it’ll provide visitors with a good look at the rather interesting history of the company, which started its business all the way back in 1889. Initially, it produced Japanese playing cards called Hanfuda.

Nintendo’s video game business as we know it was born in 1977 when it launched the successful (for the time) Color TV-Game console.

At the moment, nothing is known about the successor of the Nintendo Switch, which has been rumored literally for years and Nintendo has only started to acknowledge recently. It likely won’t come until 2025.
