Today, at the end of the Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. tournament at EVO Japan, Sega revealed a character returning to the New Virtua Fighter game.
The returning character is Wolf Hawkfield, and he was presented during the livestreamed event with his own trailer.
The trailer doesn’t show any actual gameplay, but it showcases Wolf’s new look, and he certainly appears to be as combative as ever.
The presence of Wolf Hawkfield in the cast of the new game should not surprise, considering that the Canadian wrestler has been included in every title of the series since its debut in 1993.
You can watch it below and see if it gets you excited for the mysterious new game.
The new Virtua Fighter game, simply code-named “New Virtua Fighter Project,” was announced at The Game Awards 2024 and is in development at Sega’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, which you probably know for the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series.
At the moment, very little is known. Not even the platforms have been announced, but the wait for more information won’t be long. Today, Sega will host the Virtua Fighter Direct 2025 Spring, and has promised new details, albeit we don’t yet know what exactly will be revealed.
In other EVO Japan news, over the past couple of days of tournaments and reveals, we saw the announcement of Fahkumram for Tekken 8, the release date of Unika in Guilty Gear Strive, and the release date and first gameplay of Galleon for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising.
