My Time at Evershine, the third title in the My Time series from Pathea Games, has discussed the role of players and how it’s changing to a Governor in the upcoming game.

Previously in My Time games, players take on the role of a Builder. Between building helpful devices, mining for materialism, and farming to help the town, there’s quite a bit to do.

However, My Time at Evershine gives players the role of Governor instead of Builder. This gives them more control over the town, which is one of the main features of the game. Players will decide how and where buildings get placed, and they’ll need to create paths between them.

The only part of this that was remotely seen in previous titles was at the player’s Workshop. My Time at Evershine expands this as well, letting players choose every door, wall, and even roof border. In fact, the team is hoping to create a function that allows players to share and download designs, from Workshops to settlements.

They’re also thinking about adding in a customization system that players can use after they hit a certain part of the main story. This is partly to help ensure that things trigger correctly, like NPC conversations. This also avoids a lot of other problems, like weather-related infrastructure issues.

Fans had noticed that the game’s description points out the fact that players are Governors, not Builders. However, this is the first bit of information about what that change really means from Pathea Games.

My Time at Evershine is still early in development, so there’s no release date or even window quite yet. However, we do know that it’s coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and “Nintendo” (which presumably means the Switch successor).

The Kickstarter was massively successful, reaching its goals in 30 minutes. Of course, more goals were added after that (like this hidden Logan goal). But, because of the immense success, the team has decided to forgo an Early Access release, something that the past My Time titles have had.
