Today, Riot Games announced Yunara, the next League of Legends champion who’s coming in Patch 25.14 and looks to be a classic, tried-and-true attack-damage-carry (ADC) character.
Lore-wise, Yunara is the Kinkou Order’s Fist of Shadow during the Darkin War. During the war, she sacrificed herself to trap the Darkin Glaive in the Spirit Realm. However, centuries later, the events of the Wyldbloom in Ionia brought her and her shrine back.
She was specifically designed to be a traditional ADC. Developers have pointed out that many of the most prominent and popular picks in the botlane focus on abilities or mechanics that add on to (or, in some cases, ignore) the botlaner role as a whole.
Riot is attempting to go back to the original goal of the botlaner, which is to focus on auto-attacking and the mechanics that go into successfully doing that.
Yunara’s kit focuses heavily on this. Her Q, Cultivation of Spirit, gains a stack of Unleash for every attack, along with an additional one when she attacks a champion or critically hits something. At max stacks, her Q can be activated for attack speed, bonus on-hit damage, and a small splash damage on her auto attacks.
Her W, Arc of Judgment, sends out a prayer bead that travels in a line, slowing enemies it hits. At the end, it expands and stays for a bit, damaging enemies who are in range. Yunara’s E, Kanmei’s Steps, gives her additional move speed.
Yunara’s R, Transcend One’s Self, puts her in a transcended state for a few seconds. This changes all of her abilities slightly. Her Q is automatically activated, her W becomes Arc of Ruin and sends out a beam of magic instead of a prayer bead, and her E becomes Untouchable Shadows and lets her dash.
Additionally, Yunara has a passive that lets her critical strikes deal magic damage.
Yunara is set to release with Patch 25.14 of League of Legends, which is two patches away. This is set to go live exactly a month from now on July 16, 2025. Players can check out concept art and ability art for Yunara below:
