Hooded Horse and Finitude, the German-based developers of the upcoming medieval strategy RPG Kinstrife, have partnered together to bring Kinstrife to Hooded Horse’s portfolio.
Kinstrife puts the player into the role of a wandering knight, and they’ll travel the land to gain followers and build their wealth. It’s set in Germany in the 13th century, where various Houses are fighting for power, and bandits and lawlessness run rampant.
It has a non-linear storyline and a unique physics-based combat system that focuses on realistic hits and battles compared to sheer power. Between medieval battles, duels, and tournaments, there are plenty of ways for players to make a name for themselves in-game and win renown.
There’s also a sprawling landscape to journey through, with sights that include the Rhine, castles, villages, forests, and even castles.
A trailer for Kinstrife can be seen below:
Kinstrife actually comes from Mount & Blade modders, and they were ecstatic to work with Hooded Horse, as Finitude’s co-founder Khaya Ludidi explains:
“We’ve wanted to work with Hooded Horse from the moment we set out to find a publisher. Their passion shows in how they curate games and give unique projects a chance to shine, which makes this partnership feel completely natural, and we’re incredibly excited to take the project to the next level together.”
Christoph Rüger, also a co-founder of Finitude, also spoke on the partnership:
“Kinstrife has been our passion project for a long time. Finding the right partner for the years ahead was hugely important to us.”
Hooded Horse’s CEO Tim Bender also shared excitement to work with Finitude and the high hopes the company has in Kinstrife:
“Kinstrife is exactly the kind of game we want in the portfolio. A sandbox open world with this level of attention to detail, where you can truly lose yourself in the fantasy — we’re thrilled for the chance to serve as publisher.”
Kinstrife doesn’t have a release date or window yet, but it is planning to release on PC. Those interested in the game can check out some screenshots below, which include the character customization, combat, and some stunning scenery of medieval Germany:
