Today, Square Enix unleashed the trailer of Final Fantasy XIV update 7.5, titled “Trail to the Heavens,” showcasing hints at its story and the characters we’ll encounter.
We pretty much expected something big, considering that we’re entering the conclusion of the post-Dawnstrail story, but you’re likely not ready for this one.
The trailer starts by going back to Garlemald, but there’s a lot more, with familiar characters and new ones. And when I mention familiar characters, I mean both to Final Fantasy XIV fans and Final Fantasy fans in general.
There is a lot to see and digest, and as usual, you may even consider the trailer quite spoiler-filled, so I wouldn’t watch it if you want to go into the story of the patch blind and ready to be surprised.
Incidentally, the trailer also shows the first look at the Beastmaster in action. It’s the new limited job that will follow the footsteps of Blue Mage.
We already know that Update 7.5 Part 1 will release on April 28, while Part 2 will come in early September, bridging the gap to the new expansion, which will be revealed at least in part at the first of three Fan Festivals on April 24.
Incidentally, if you want to see more about the update’s contents, you can check out our recap of the Letter from the Producer Live 91, while you can expect another recap of Letter from the Producer Live 92 later today, showing gameplay of the update’s various features and content.
You can check out the trailer below with English voices, but if you prefer Japanese voice-overs, you can find the Japanese version on the official channel.
Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. If you’re interested, you can read about the latest update 7.4 and its follow-up patches.
