Today, during a stage event at FGO Fes 2024 in Japan, Type-Moon announced the release of the upcoming visual novel Fate/stay night Remastered.
The game, published by Aniplex, will be released on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch on August 8, 2024. This is actually the first time that this legendary visual novel has been localized in English.
While voices will be exclusively in Japanese, while subtitles and menus will be provided both in English and Simplified Chinese.
Below you can check out the trailer that accompanied the announcement.
If you’re unfamiliar with Fate/Stay night, it’s the visual novel that kickstarted The Fate franchise when it originally launched in 2004. It has been Type-Moon’s household name for two decades.
While the original was an adult game, the series has since shifted to an all-ages target. This is a common occurrence for many Japanese franchises that started as eroge, especially when releasing on consoles or getting anime adaptations.
It then gained massive popularity that culminated with the mobile game Fate/Grand Order, which still enjoys an immense audience in Japan and abroad. Incidentally, today’s event, which will continue tomorrow, is the annual convention dedicated to FGO in Japan.
The remaster is based on the 2012 PlayStation Vita release Fate/stay night Réalta Nua, with full HD visuals and animations on top of it.
Yet, the release date of Fate/stay night Remastered was not the only news provided during the event. Type-Moon announced that Fate/hollow ataraxia Remastered is also coming for the same platforms, PC and Nintendo Switch.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, it’s a sequel to Fate/Stay night, set a few years after the original and released in 2005.
Incidentally, tomorrow we should get more news about another Fate game, the remake of the JRPG Fate/Extra, Fate/Extra Record.
If you’re interested in further news about legendary visual novels coming back and being localized for the first time, you can check out the upcoming Steam release of Âge’s Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien.
Aquaplus’ To Heart is also coming back with its own remake next year.
