Today the beloved Japanese studio Type-Moon and its new-ish team Studio BB revealed a new look at the upcoming remake Fate/Extra Record.
The video showcases a look at the cast of the game, painted by character designer Arco Wada. We get to see many familiar faces like Nero Claudius/Saber, Cú Chulainn/Archer, Tamamo-no-Mae/Caster, and many more.
You can take a look for yourself below. At the end of the video, we get the mention that more news will be shared at FGO Fest, which will be hosted at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, near Tokyo, between August 3 and August 4.
Specifically, the Fate/Extra Record news is coming on August 4.
Incidentally, Director Kazuya Niino mentioned on his personal X account that the news coming on August 4 will make us go “oh… well… not bad… umh… hoho.” As to what that might mean, your guess is as good as mine.
If you’re unfamiliar with Fate/Extra Record, it’s a remake of the original Fate/Extra, a beloved JRPG released originally in 2010 for the PSP. It was the first RPG of the Fate series and it holds a special place in the hearts of many fans.
It was announced all the way back in 2020 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original, and we only saw a few videos in the four years that passed since then.
The Fate franchise has been Type-Moon’s household name for two decades, since the release of the visual novel Fate/Stay Night in 2004.
While the original was an adult game, the series has since shifted to an all-ages target (like many Japanese franchises that started as eroge) gaining immense popularity that culminated with the mobile game Fate/Grand Order, which still enjoys a massive audience in Japan and abroad.
Of course, you can expect to find the news that will be released on August 4 here on Simulation Daily.
