Today, during a stage event at FGO Fes 2024 in Japan, Type-Moon had new details to share about its upcoming Fate/Extra remake Fate/Extra Record.
First of all, we learn the platform and the release window. The game will be coming for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2025.
The developer also announced that the publisher will be Bandai Namco. A trailer was showcased during the event, and you can enjoy it below.
If you’re unfamiliar with Fate/Extra Record, it’s a remake of the original Fate/Extra, a JRPG originally released in 2010 for Sony’s PSP. It was the first RPG of the Fate series.
The remake was announced all the way back in 2020 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original game, and another teaser trailer was released a couple of weeks ago.
Speaking of the Fate series, just yesterday Type-Moon revealed the release date of another re-release, Fate/stay night Remastered, alongside the reveal of a third, Fate/hollow ataraxia Remastered.
Incidentally, the two remasters mark the first time both visual novels are officially localized in English.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Fate series, it originally debuted in 2004 with Fate/stay night and it has been Type-Moon’s household name for two decades.
While the original was an adult game, the franchise has since shifted to an all-ages target. This is quite common among Japanese franchises that started as eroge, especially when releasing on consoles or getting anime adaptations.
Its popularity has grown exponentially over the years, culminating with the mobile game Fate/Grand Order, which still enjoys a massive audience in Japan and worldwide. Incidentally, today’s event is the annual convention dedicated to FGO in Japan.
