We already knew that MicroProse is working on Falcon 5 in collaboration with former DCS World developer Razbam, but today we got an interesting tease from the latter.

Razbam CEO Ron Zambrano posted on X (formerly Twitter) a tease about the development of the dynamic campaign of the new simulator.

Interestingly, this is the second version of the post, including only the image below.

Falcon 5 Tease

A previous, now deleted version of the post also mentioned that the “design phase of Falcon 5’s Dynamic Campaign was completed this summer.”

We do not know why the post was deleted. It could have been deemed too much information, or perhaps diplomatically inconvenient, as it could certainly be seen as a jab at Eagle Dynamics, which has been working on the dynamic campaign for DCS World for several years and doesn’t appear to be very close to completion.

The spotlight on the dynamic campaign is not surprising, considering that it’s one of the most attractive features of the simulator’s predecessor, Falcon 4.0.

It’s so good that to this day, 27 years after the release of Falcon 4.0, many play the version updated by fans, Falcon BMS, because of the dynamic campaign. It’s arguably a more compelling single-player experience compared to DCS World.

I would love to know whether MicroProse is still using at least parts of the code for Falcon 4.0’s dynamic campaign. After all, there’s no reason to reinvent a perfectly round wheel that it’s still considered by many the benchmark for this kind of feature.

We’ll have to wait and see to know more. As soon as MicroProse announces something, you can expect to read it here on Simulation Daily.

In other MicroProse news, we recently got the announcement of a publishing deal for Battleship Command, while a B-17 Flying Fortress has been released in early access for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Task Force Admiral – Vol.1: American Carrier Battles also got a release window.
