First of all, you won’t need a top-of-the-line PC if you’re content with playing the game at low or medium settings, but things become more demanding if you’d rather get the eye-candy at high settings (which is what the recommended specs get you) or even more so at ultra settings.

The announcement also mentions that the game will feature Nvidia’s DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, AMD’s FSR, and Intel’s XeSS 2, on top of Razer Chroma RGB and Razer Sensa HD Haptics.

In the infographic below you can check out four tiers and what you need to run them.

Dune Awakening PC Requirements

The game will also have the following settings to customize your experience.

Settings

  • Remappable keyboard & mouse controls
  • Better support for AZERTY/QWERTZ and ESDF users
  • Subtitles on/off
  • Subtitle backgrounds
  • Optional chat indicators or chat bubbles in social areas
  • Optional loadout hotbar, mini-radial or radial wheel
  • Controller rumble on/off
  • Screenshake on/off
  • Motion blur on/off
  • FOV adjustment
  • Framerate limiter
  • Ultrawide HUD option (21:9 and 32:9)
  • Multiple audio channel sliders
  • Multiple sensitivity sliders

General Gameplay

  • Controller support
  • Dialogue system with path highlights
  • Audio SFX to support key actions/events
  • Tutorials with highlighted text
  • Tutorial repository for reviewing unlocked or missed tutorials
  • Emotes system
  • Help popups on several menus to explain specific features or game mechanics

As for the business model, we learn that there won’t be an early access (unlike Funcom’s previous survival game Conan Exiles) and the game will immediately launch with the full experience. There won’t be any monthly subscriptions.

There will be regular free updates with new content, story, and features, and each will be accompanied by an optional paid DLC. You can choose to buy the season pass or to purchase the DLC separately (or not at all, I suppose).

Some of the purchase options will grant a few days of early access at launch, but there will be fresh servers on release day. This will allow Funcom to modulate the influx of new players and better handle the initial server load.

Below you can watch a video featuring Creative Director Joel Bylos as he explains pretty much the same concepts.

Dune: Awakening will release on May 20 for PC. If you’d like to see more, you can enjoy a video focusing on exploration.
