Square Enix has announced the release date for Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remake, and it’s coming right before Halloween this year.
The Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remake includes both Dragon Quest games, which take place after the events in Dragon Quest 3. Considering the better-than-expected success of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake from late last year, both new and old fans of the series have a great starting point.
This new bundle of remakes will see the conclusion of the Erdrick Trilogy, which includes new content as well as HD-2D updates, quality-of-life updates, and a new and improved battle system. As our Editor-in-Chief Giuseppe pointed out last year, HD-2D Remakes are the way to go, and Square Enix seems to know it.
Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remake will be released on October 30, 2025, for PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, starting at $59.99.
Players will have several options when purchasing it. While it will get a physical and digital release on its own, there will also be a digital Dragon Quest HD-2D Erdrick Trilogy Collection. This will include the HD-2D Remakes of all three games, priced at $99.99.
There’s also the Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remake Collector’s Edition now available to pre-order on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for $149.99. It includes the following:
- Physical version of Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remake
- Dragon Quest 1 and 2 character and monster blocks set (six characters, a dog, two boss monsters, and the logo)
- The in-game Outstanding Outfit Kit (1x Ring of Strength, 1x Slime Earrings, 1x Mad Cap)
- 2 exclusive digital wallpapers
- Pre-order bonus, in-game Trouble-Free Travel Kit (1x Pair of Elevating Shoes, 3x Seeds of Strength, 3x Seeds of Defence, 3x Seeds og Agility, 3x Seeds of Life, and 3x Seeds of Magic)
Players who have save data from Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake on the same system they’re playing Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remake on will also receive a dog quest for Dragon Quest 1 and a cat suit for Dragon Quest 2.
