Today, Kojima Productions announced that over 20 million porters have played Death Stranding on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Amazon Luna.
Death Stranding originally released back on November 8, 2019, placing players in the shoes of Sam Porter, who is a freelance delivery person, known as a porter. He is tasked with roaming the harsh lands of the UCA, surviving bandits, mercenaries, and the alien-like BTs to help re-establish connection with the hope of reuniting a divided America.
To do that, Sam must deliver supplies to isolated colonies and reconnect them via a wireless communications network. Thanks to its stacked cast—including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Guillermo del Toro, and Margaret Qualley—and unique story, the game was a hit with critics and fans alike.
The title was the first game developed by Kojima Productions since creator Hideo Kojima, the mind behind the Metal Gear Solid series, parted was with Konami. A sequel has also been announced, titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to release later this year on June 26, 2025, once again made by Kojima Productions, led by Hideo Kojima, and will follow the journey of Sam Porter. While information regarding what will be different in the next installment is still coming out, a recent sneak peek was teased during the SXSW event in Austin.
The definitive experience, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, is available now on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, and Amazon Luna for $39.99 – though anyone who owned the original can upgrade it for just $9.99. For more information on the sequel, be sure to check Simulation Daily for updates.
