Today, Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher developer CD Projekt revealed its earnings for the first half of 2025, related to the period between January and June.

According to the documents provided by the developer, revenue for the six months in question was 443 million PLN (Polish złoty), a pretty significant increase compared to the 424 million PLN recorded in the same period of the previous year.

Net profit was 155 million PLN, down from 170 million PLN, although operating profit was up, from 140 million PLN to 168 million PLN.

This is likely due to the ramp-up in the costs of development of The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, as we hear that expenditures on development work for upcoming games exceeded 240 million PLN in the first half of the year.

This is over double compared to the 107 million PLN spent in development projects in the same period of 2024. Incidentally, we also heard a while ago that the developer has other games in the oven.

That being said, the company mentions that if it weren’t for some higher-than-usual income taxes due to past issues, even the net profits would have grown year-on-year.

The company reiterates that sales for Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion Phantom Liberty passed 10 million copies and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt passed 60 million copies, but this was already announced last quarter.

Quite interestingly, we also learn that only 24.6% copies of Cyberpunk 2077 sold for Nintendo Switch 2 in June 2025 were digital. 75.4% were physical.

We also hear that CD Projekt is “very pleased” about the overall sales of Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2, despite the fact that Nintendo games took the lion’s share of game sales on the new platform.

The number of employees as of June 30, 2025, has grown to 1,284 from 1,149 as of December 31, 2024. Of these, 64% are developers, 19% are back office employees, and 17% work in publishing.

1143 developers work at CD Projekt RED, while 105 work on the digital distribution platform GoG.com.

We also get a breakdown of the projects currently in development and the developers employed compared to the previous quarter.

Unsurprisingly, the teams working on Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4 have both received the lion’s share of the growth, and the former is now over 100 developers for the first time.

The announcement was also accompanied by a statement from Joint CEO MichaÅ‚ Nowakowski, who talked about the collaboration with Epic Games on Unreal Engine 5 and the developer’s multiplatform strategy.

“We want our open worlds to become even more immersive and interactive. The innovations currently being developed hand in hand with Epic Games will guide the way we create experiences for our players. By actively participating in the development of Unreal Engine 5 we reinforce our position at the forefront of technological progress in the game dev industry.

Among the core aspects of our strategy is the ability to offer our products to a broad audience while retaining top quality. For that reason we’re particularly glad that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition was released on Nintendo Switch 2 on the day of its global launch, and that it continues to rank among the best-selling third-party titles on that platform.

In turn, in mid-July, the game also debuted on Mac devices equipped with Apple Silicon chips. â€“ adds MichaÅ‚ Nowakowski – Given that our franchises have, for a while, been about more than just video games, it is with great satisfaction that we were able to announce another joint project with the renowned Japanese studio TRIGGER. In the future, we will present fans of the Cyberpunk universe with another installment in the cult anime series – Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.”

Below, you can check out a video in which CFO Piotr Nielubowicz summarizes the financial results.

If you’d like to compare these results with historical data, you can read our report about first quarter of the year, based on data released in May.

Other gaming companies have also already announced their financial results this quarter, including Koei Tecmo, Ubisoft, Krafton, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Microsoft, Konami, Marvelous Entertainment, Nintendo, Bandai Namco, Sony, Take-Two, Sega, and Square Enix.
