The Street Fighter 6 world championships have officially ended, as the Capcom Cup 11 has crowned Kakeru the best player in the world following a week of intense competition.
Kakeru defeated Blaz in the final match, besting 48 other competitors throughout the competition, which took place for the first time in nearly 30 years at the birthplace of Street Fighter Esports, Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena. It was also announced that the next version of this tournament, the Capcom Cup 12, will return to Japan next year, though it wasn’t revealed what area would be hosting it.
In other Street Fighter 6 tournament news, the Street Fighter League: World Championships took place on March 9, featuring the winning teams of each league in the Japan, United States, and European regions. In the end, Good 8 Squad won the event, cementing their spot in the Capcom Cup 12 and earning them the title of “World’s Strongest Street Fighter 6 Team.”
There are still plenty of other Esports events coming up for the title, including Reject Fight Night × Sajam Slam: Street Fighter 6 International Championship, which takes place next week and the upcoming Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There are plenty of offline tournaments coming, like EVO Japan starting on May 9, Combo Breaker on May 23, followed by CEO, EVO Nice, EVO Vegas, the Asia Premier, UFA, and Blink Respawn to fill the rest of the year.
