The 2025 Esports World Cup announced that Apex Legends would be at the international event a bit ago, and Apex Legends has now revealed that the actual event at the EWS will be the ALGS Midseason Playoffs.
The top 40 Apex Legends squads will compete in the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Midseason Playoffs in Boulevard City at the 2025 Esports World Cup. This isn’t the first time, either — Apex Legends held its longest tournament match ever at the 2024 Esports World Cup, lasting 13 games.
This year, the ALGS Midseason Playoffs will take place from July 10 to July 13, with three stages.
Stage One will be the Group Stage. There will be two groups of twenty teams that will fight for twenty spots on Stage Three.
Stage Two is a last-chance qualifier that gives the twenty losing teams from Stage One a chance to make it to Stage Three one last time.
Stage Three is the actual finals, where the top teams from the previous stages will fight in a match-point format to take home the title of ALGS Midseason Champions (and, of course, the EWC Apex Legends 2025 trophy). Of course, there’s the $2 million prize pool that everyone’s competing for a slice of, too.
The match-point format is the same format that was used last year. This caused players to take more risks and play more strategically than ever. The result? Intense fights that every fan loves watching.
