Specifically, Team Liquid Philippines managed to win fairly smoothly (despite losing the first match) against the previously reigning champions, Selangor Red Giants, with a 4-1 score.

Third place was taken by Onic Sports Philippines, which defeated its sister team, Onic Sports Indonesia, in the Decider match.

Team Liquid’s own Sanford Vinuya was awarded the MVP mantle at the end of the tournament.

While the game’s popularity in western countries may be limited, it’s certainly big in Asia, and that reflects in the massive $1,000,000 prize pool brought home by Team Liquid Philippines, while Selangor Red Giants received $500,000, and Onic Sports Philippines won $250,000.

The win allows Team Liquid to hold its leadership against Team Falcons in the Club Championship Ranking, despite the fact that they participate in half the tournaments compared to the Saudi home team.

If you missed the grand finals, you can check out the recording of the livestream on demand below.

If you’re unfamiliar with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, it’s a mobile MOBA developed and published by the Chinese company Moonton, and it’s mostly popular in several Southeast Asian countries, as reflected by the winners.

It’s available for both iOS and Android, and the similarities with Riot Games’ League of Legends are really hard to miss.

Incidentally, if you really need to know, Magnus Carlsen won the Chess tournament at the Esports World Cup 2025, defeating Alireza Firouzja in the grand final.

Please don’t get me wrong, Chess is an amazing strategy game, with a history that commands respect, but an esport, it is not, so it doesn’t get its own article on a website dedicated to video games.

The Esports World Cup is hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and it’s already at the end of its third week, with several tournaments having already crowned their champions

The competition is scheduled to continue for three more weeks until August 24.

Earlier during the event, Team Redline won the Rennsport sim racing championship, Goichi brought home the trophy for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Team Heretics won the Valorant tournament, VK Gaming won in Apex Legends, Team Spirit won in Dota 2, Team Vitality won the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang invitational, Evos Esports won Free Fire, Gen.G won League of Legends, Serral won Starcraft 2, All Gamers for Honor of Kings, and OpTic won Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
