According to the documents provided by Nintendo itself, the Switch 2 has shipped to retailers 17.37 million units in four months, between its release on June 5 and December 31.

This means that Switch 2 shipments during the Holiday quarter were a whopping 7.01 million units. We’ll be able to compare with its main rival, the PS5, in a couple of days, when Sony announces its own results.

We also hear that in the 4th week of December 2025, the Switch 2 is estimated to have sold through to customers 15 million units, and it’s the fastest-selling console released by Nintendo to date.

The original Nintendo Switch also continues to do some numbers. Its lifetime sales have been updated to 155.37 million units as of December 31.

An update about lifetime software sales for both consoles has also been provided. Nintendo Switch 2 games have shipped 37.93 million units, while Switch games have shipped 1,500.16 million units.

The forecast for the full fiscal year has been left untouched after having been increased in November. The company expects to have sold 19 million units of Switch 2 by the end of March 2026, and 48 million units of its games.

The forecast for the original Switch has also been left alone, with 4 million units for hardware and 125 million units for software.

Moving on to actual financial results for the Kyoto-based company, sales for the first nine months of the fiscal year were 1,905.8 billion yen, up 99.3% year-on-year. Operating profit was 300.3 billion yen, up 21.3% year-on-year.

Speaking of games, Mario Kart World has shipped 14.03 million units. Donkey Kong Bananza has shipped 4.25 million units. Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has shipped 3.89 million units. Kirby Air Riders has shipped 1.76 million units.

If you’d like to compare these results with historical data, you can read our report about the past quarter, based on data released in November.

Other gaming companies have already announced their financial results this quarter, including Koei Tecmo, Capcom, Microsoft, and Konami. You can expect more reports on this topic in the coming days and weeks.
