Since releasing its first game at the start of the year, indie studio Pocketpair has had a busy year, and it doesn’t seem like it is over quite yet. Today, developers announced that its hit survival title, Palworld, would be teaming up with another indie darling, Terraria.

While details of the collaboration weren’t revealed, it was stated that the crossover would be happening at some point in 2025. News on the next update coming to Palworld is also coming very soon, according to the tweet below.

Palworld took the video game world by storm when it was released into early access on January 18, 2024, and became one of the highest-played games by concurrent users in Steam history. Upon release, it reached a peak of 1.1 million players, becoming only the second paid game in history to reach that mark – with only PUBG accomplishing this before going free-to-play.

2024 isn't finished yet for Palworld and we have some exciting news about the next update coming VERY SOON…

But first, we want to tell you about something happening in 2025!

Unfortunately, Palworld’s success did not come without consequences. In September, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed a patent infringement lawsuit and moved to sue Pocketpair. The lawsuit is still ongoing, and the companies are seeking 5 million yen plus late payment fees for each plaintiff, coming out to about $65,000 cumulatively.

It’ll be interesting to see exactly what the team-up with Terraria is and whether the ongoing lawsuit will affect it.

Terraria is a 2D action-adventure sandbox game developed by Re-Logic that launched back in 2011. Its gameplay revolves around building, crafting, combat, survival, and mining, with an emphasis on exploring similar to titles like Minecraft.

Despite being over a decade old, the title still gets pretty consistent updates, so it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to believe that the Palworld collaboration could take place in Terraria.
