Deep Silver and King Art Games announced that the upcoming RTS game Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 4 has been delayed.
Specifically, the game won’t launch on September 17, 2026, as initially announced. It will release on December 3. Those who purchase the Commander EQdition will get early access on November 30.
The explanation is pretty straightforward, as the developers are taking more time to further refine the experience before release, focusing on “performance optimisation, bug fixing, gameplay polish, and incorporating additional feedback from recent community playtesting.”
We also hear from King Art Games Creative Director Jan Theysen.
“As we approached the final stages of development, we saw an opportunity to further enhance Dawn of War IV and deliver the quality of experience we’ve always envisioned. The additional time will allow us to continue optimising performance, resolving bugs, and applying further polish to ensure players have the best possible experience from day one”
We also get a video in which Theysen himself provides more color on the decision. ì
The accompanying press release also includes an infographic portraying the year-one content drops shifted to fit the new timeline.

Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 4 arrives on PC via Steam on December 3, 2026. It still doesn’t have a release date, but you can also check out its announcement trailer, the reveal of Dark Angel Primarch Lion El’Jonson and his chapter, a look at multiplayer gameplay, and the introduction of the Necrons.
Incidentally, if you don’t know King Art Games, they rose to prominence a few years ago with Iron Harvest, which certainly put them on the radar of many RTS fans.
