The update brings changes mainly to filters, alongside a few fixes to polish things up further.

It also welcomes the freeware Airbus A380 by FlyByWire which will be releasing at some point tomorrow.

Below you can read the full update notes, posted on the application’s Discord server.

Enhancements

  • Added “unflown” filter to schedules, when turned on, it will only show flights that you have not done before, based on matching origin, destination and flight number.
  • You can now add multiple filters for flights on the map page by separating values with comma. For example, you can filter aircraft for “A388, B77W” to show all A388 and B77W flights on the map together.
  • Flight filters on the map page will now be saved and loaded back the next time you open Volanta.
  • Added a dotted line towards the destination airport for flights with no ATC route set.
  • Made the A388 as big and majestic as it deserves to be.

Fixes

  • Fixed flight lines being too thick in some cases on profile and flight pages.
  • Multi-word tags can now be searched for with spaces, instead of having to omit spaces.
  • Attempted to fix startup freezing and occasional connection issues.

Speaking of the Airbus A380, there will be an event in Volanta between October 31 at 06:00 UTC and November 4 at 06:00 UTC.

Volanta A380 launch event

You just need to click on “I’m Going” on the event within the app and complete a flight anywhere using an Airbus A380 to have a chance to win premium months for Volanta itself.

If you’re unfamiliar with Volanta, it’s a flight-tracking application that you can download for free. You can opt into a premium subscription payable monthly or yearly to unlock more features.

Since it’s platform-agnostic, it’s compatible with major simulators including Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, and Prepar3D, on top of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (even if it’s not publicly out yet).

It’s available on PC, iOS, and Android.

Speaking of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (which is coming on November 18), you can enjoy our hands-on preview with plenty of interesting details for your perusal.

You can also watch our interview with Head of MSFS Jorg Neumann and Asobo CEO Sebastian Wloch, another with Asobo CCO David Dedeine, and one featuring Chris Burnett of Working Title and Brandon Yaeger of Got Friends about their work on MSFS 2024.

Last, but not least, you can take a look at our A-10 flight through the Grand Canyon, our first look at the extensive pilot customization, another at the first mission of the Career Mode, a video featuring the new walk-around move showing off a Boeing 737 MAX up close and personal, and a challenge with the A-10 over the Blue Ridge Mountains.
