PMDG Partly Denies Rumor Alleging Collaboration With Gaya on Boeing 747
A rather widespread rumor appeared online, alleging that Gaya Simulations is making the cockpit of the Boeing 747 by PMDG.
PMDG CEO Robert Randazzo posted on the company’s forums, denying the rumor and clarifying that the work is being done in-house.
“We have an incredibly skilled (and growing) team of modelers and I think the 747 right now is our best work so far- by a wide wide wide margin. Like nearly every developer in this business right now, we can and will use outside talent to help us clear hurdles where economically it doesn’t make sense to have permanent staffing. If we can borrow talent for short term tasks and hire permanent talent for long term tasks- that makes us a much stronger organization all around.”
That being said, there was a kernel of truth in the rumor, as Randazzo mentioned that PMDG and Gaya have a “very nice relationship” and Gaya helped the Boeing-focused developer “tremendously” when they were updating the cabins of the 737 line.
Gaya actually did help with the cockpit of the 747 by providing much higher detail scans than what PMDG could source on its own.
“To be clear, though- the build-out of our 747 fleet is being done in house by our own team- but the scanning and baseline work accomplished for us by Gaya was tremendous in helping to close up some gaps in areas that we very much needed to fill.”
Randazzo added that the two companies had a conversation about Gaya possibly building the cabins of the 747s, but the economics did not make sense.
Incidentally, the developer has promised to provide news on the 747 line this week. Of course, you can expect to find them here on Simulation Daily as soon as they are shared.
