PMDG “Optimistic” About Porting its Boeing Aircraft to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 After Sim Update 1 Beta Release
PMDG has not been able to start working on porting its popular Microsoft Flight Simulator aircraft to MSFS 2024 due to issues that blocked their efforts, but now, with the release of the beta of Sim Update 1, which includes several backward compatibility fixes, CEO Robert Randazzo is “cautiously optimistic” that porting work can start in earnest on Monday.
Here is what he shared:
“We have had the SU1 public beta on hand for a bit over a day now, and are cautiously optimistic that, come Monday, we will find ourselves fully un-stuck when it comes to working within MSFS 2024.
Late this evening, we were able to build the 777 using the MSFS SDK, and it ran in mostly stable fashion, with debugging capability attached. We operated the airplane through an entire flight sequence and began cataloging the many issues that show up in 2024 that don’t appear in 2020 and thus need to be addressed. That process will start in earnest on Monday.
To describe this another way: We have reason to believe that the full-stop-blockers we that have prevented WASM development in MSFS 2024 appear to have been removed, and we are now able to begin a thorough analysis of the 777 in order to begin the process of itemizing all of the things we need to fix/upgrade in order for the airplane to represent itself well in MSFS 2024.
To be clear: It runs- but it is not truly usable- as there are many things that don’t work properly that must be adjusted, tweaked, corrected and tuned.
This is great news, however, and we have officially moved the optimism needle to the mid position- and we are looking forward to having a chance to finally bring our simulation value to this new platform.”
