Nintendo has announced the festivities coming with this year’s Mario Day (or Mar10 Day), including The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct happening on March 9, 2026.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct will feature the last trailer for the upcoming film, which is set to release on April 1, 2026. The Direct will start at 2 pm PT on March 9, and Nintendo has already explained that there will be no information on games in the Direct. Fans can tune in here on YouTube to watch the presentation.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. game, and the celebration includes more than just news about The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
To start with, Nintendo Switch 2 players with a Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack account will get access to Mario vs. Donkey Kong on the Game Boy Advance Nintendo Classic, as well as Mario Clash and Mario’s Tennis on the Virtual Boy Nintendo Classic on March 10, 2026. Already, Switch and Switch 2 players with a Nintendo Switch Online account have access to quite a few games in the Mario franchise across the various Nintendo Classics.
Additionally, from March 8 to March 14, several Mario games will be on sale at participating retailers. These include the following:
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury: $39.99
- Super Mario Odyssey: $39.99
- Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV: $59.99
The Nintendo eShop also has sales going from now until March 15, including titles like Mario vs. Donkey Kong ($39.99) and Super Mario Maker 2 ($39.99).
Mario Kart World players will have the chance to participate in the My Nintendo Open Series. These are a weekly series of races that take place over three weeks. Anyone who participates in the Americas can earn 310 My Nintendo Platinum Points.
The series of races is as follows:
- VS Race: March 5, 2026 to March 11, 2026 (Event ID 3101)
- Coin Runners: March 11, 2026 to March 18, 2026 (Event ID 3102)
- Knockout Tour: March 18, 2026 to March 25, 2026 (Event ID 3103)
Lunchables is also joining the fun. With select packs, fans can scan for a chance to win a Nintendo Switch 2 and a digital game download.
