EA has released a new free update for The Sims 4, bringing a few new features to the base game, new cosmetics, and even a few updates to two of the DLC packs.
This update is paving the way for the upcoming Adventure Awaits DLC, which is set to come out on October 2. In the meantime, players will get to check out new features like Playground venues, the Play Pretend Interaction, and Memory Boost.
Playground venues, while first revealed with the Adventure Awaits DLC, are now free for everyone. Players can customize these child-centric locations and build playgrounds, sharing them in the Gallery for other players to enjoy.
With that, Playgrounds will be a new event type in the event planning UI. Additionally, players will be able to filter the lot types when planning events, picking from Residential, Bar, Lounge, Museum, Nightclub, Park, and Playground.
Child Sims are also getting a new interaction to Play Pretend. This can be a social interaction or something they do on their own. There are options to Play Fairy Tale Castle, Play House, Play Space Explorer, Play Pirate Adventure, and Play Island Castaway.
A new feature called Memory Boost is coming as an opt-in feature on PC. The Early Access feature essentially boost performance by balancing and optimizing memory usage, lag, and frame rates. Players can opt in by going to the Other section of the Game Options menu.
Additionally, an Autumn Apparel Kit was announced, coming right in time for the fall season when it’s released next month. Plus, the Slouch Beanie now has an ecru color variant.
Those with the Life and Death and Island Living DLC will see updates for those, as well. The Soul’s Journey in Life and Death has been adjusted, so players will see more Satisfaction Point rewards. The Merfolk Occult Bassinet was added for Island Living.
There are a plethora of other bug fixes and adjustments that players can read through here. These include base game fixes and fixes for many of the other DLC and expansion packs.
