FromSoftware has announced that The Duskbloods, its upcoming online multiplayer action game for Nintendo Switch 2, has been delayed from its previously planned 2026 release window to 2027. The studio said the extra development time will let it refine the game’s rules and balance while improving the overall player experience.
The Duskbloods was originally announced during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2, 2025, with a worldwide release planned for 2026. Directed by FromSoftware President Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game is being developed exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 and combines the studio’s experience with demanding combat encounters with a multiplayer-focused structure.
According to FromSoftware, the decision to delay the game follows an August 2026 network test that generated strong interest in several of its core features, including direct combat, strategic depth, and player expression. The studio intends to develop these elements before launch, giving players a more polished experience when The Duskbloods arrives next year.

FromSoftware apologized to players waiting for the game and thanked them for their patience and understanding. The company has not announced a specific release date beyond the revised 2027 window.
Developed and published in collaboration with Nintendo, The Duskbloods is a player-versus-player-versus-environment (PvPvE) game that supports up to eight players competing against one another while battling challenging enemies. Players take on the role of the Bloodsworn, powerful warriors who use their special blood to transcend human limitations and fight in a violent struggle as humanity approaches its twilight.
The game centers on a competition for First Blood, with players facing rival participants and formidable foes throughout. The setting spans different periods and locations, blending Gothic and Victorian-inspired environments with other historical influences. Blood also serves as a central theme, representing power, history, and the forces that shape the Bloodsworn.
FromSoftware is best known for its challenging action titles, popularizing the modern Soulslike genre with Demon’s Souls and the Dark Souls series, then expanding its audience with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and the open-world RPG Elden Ring. Although The Duskbloods represents a departure from the studio’s more traditional single-player experiences, Miyazaki has previously clarified that the project does not signal a broader shift toward multiplayer games.
FromSoftware intends to continue developing single-player titles alongside projects that explore different gameplay structures. For more info on The Duskbloods and other titles coming from the developers, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
