Today, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware revealed that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is officially releasing on the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026.
It was also confirmed that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition includes:
- Base game
- Shadow of the Erdtree expansion
- 2 new starting classes (Heavy Knight and Knight of Eyes)
- Exclusive customization items for Torrent
The new in-game content will also be released on the exact same day for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox as a standalone add-on called the Tarnished Pack.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 was originally announced in April 2025 at a major Nintendo showcase. The title was initially delayed to allow for performance adjustments, with today marking the official confirmation that the Switch 2 will arrive this summer.
The original Elden Ring was a considerable success, received more than 400 Game of the Year nominations, and sold 30 million units worldwide. FromSoftware’s latest installment in their impressive resume of Souls-like games (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, & Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice), the title places players in the shoes of a banished warrior known as the Tarnished.
Your character is called back by cosmic grace to find the scattered shards of the Elden Ring, defeat the demigods who possess them, and become the new Elden Lord. You face off against overwhelming challenges, sprawling environments, and danger at every turn in this open-world action RPG, charting your own path through the world of the Lands Between.
The Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will release for Nintendo Switch 2 for $79.99. Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC players can purchase this separately as a standalone add-on (rumored at around $5 to $10) or as part of the Shadow of the Erdtree Edition.
