The public Beta branch for Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age will be getting two major changes, with the first being a complete overhaul of how air operations from airbases and carriers currently function. The second change is that native support for loading of 3rd party models for modders will now be available.

To start, the Flight Deck Operations will be far more realistic, with all aircraft (including helicopters) now having individual loadout preparation times, and cooldown/servicing times after recovery. Flight Decks also now have limited ground crews to fuel and air each aircraft, and limited deck park space for prepped aircraft to wait for launch.

A new Rally Point mechanic will allow players to define a rally point and altitude for aircraft launched from the airbase/carrier. You can see a handful of other changes below:

  • Airbases/Carriers now have limited ordnance stores (“ammunition”), especially of advanced weaponry, such as Phoenix and Harpoon missiles
  • The Mission Editor has been updated to allow mission-makers to configure prepped aircraft and allocate airbase/carrier ammunition stores
  • Added a new Flight Deck Timings setting in Options with 3 modes: Realistic, Casual, Arcade. Arcade mode disables prep/cooldown times.

The new Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age Beta branch now supports 3rd-party models in the OBJ format, simplifying the use of mods with custom models since chain loader tools are no longer required. Other changes include improvements to the Mission Editor, AI enhancements, and plenty of quality of life updates.

You can see the full patch notes via the Steam page here. Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age is now available in Steam Early Access for $49.99. For more information on this and its upcoming roadmap content, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
