PQube has announced that Republic of Pirates, the city-builder and real-time-strategy game set in the Caribbean that’s already available on PC, is headed to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year.

Republic of Pirates gives players the opportunity to create the perfect pirate city, starting from a tiny outpost to a massive republic. Players are tasked with creating an economy, expanding their fleet, and going on missions, to name a few.

Of course, a pirate game wouldn’t be complete without naval battles. Republic of Pirates features real-time combat, where players can raid and conquer the Caribbean archipelago. There’s also diplomacy to be done for players who want to use their fleet less often.

For more casual players, Republic of Pirates offers a free play and sandbox mode. Free play lets them use a custom map to create a series of islands to perfectly match their own vision. These can also be shared via unique IDs.

All of the pirate fun is headed to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and PQube released a trailer to celebrate the news:

With the console release, there’s also a physical pre-order for PlayStation 5. There’s currently no news about a physical release for Xbox Series X|S.

Republic of Pirates is already available on Steam, and it will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in late 2025.

If you’re interested in games featuring pirates, be sure to check out Sea of Legends, the upcoming open-world CRPG, and Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, which is getting an expansion that introduces pirates and naval combat.
