Planet Zoo 2 officially launched last week on October 13, and Frontier Developments is already hard at work to make fixes and improvements to the game. The developers have shared a list of everything that is “Under Investigation, or in other words, the issues they are aware of and are currently working on for the next update.
First, the team is working on the game’s stability and overall performance. They have been able to resolve several instances where the game crashes or unintentional soft locks.
The development team identified an issue that caused the autosave timer to reset when entering the planet hub, which prevented the autosave from triggering. It is advised to manually save your game frequently until the update is pushed out.
Next, the Franchise Accreditation system will receive some changes, such as a greater volume of species brought into lower levels of accreditation, as well as accreditation levels 3-5 having their requirements reduced.
There are a number of improvements for animals and exhibits. For example, the team is working on a reduction of animals boxing when the player is editing aquariums and habitats, the ability to quickly release through the animal management menu, and preventing animals from being able to jump through glass tunnels. A few animals will get fixes to incorrect animations and adjusted fertility values.
Lastly, the team is making some changes to the settings and options. The Zoopedia will no longer hide unowned DLC species even when the toggle is turned off, the ESC key will bring back the UI after hiding it, and there will be improvements to the profanity tracker that blocked certain players from accessing the workshop.
There are more areas under investigation for future updates, as well as ongoing areas of focus. You can read about what Frontier Developments is working to push out in the next update as well as what they will focus on in the future, by reading the full Under Investigation notes right here on their website. While these are not official patch notes, they detail the highest-priority changes that will be included in the next update, which should be pushed out in the next day or so.
