Team Spirit has taken its first Major championship title at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 with a 2-1 win over FaZe Clan. The win broke several records for the Counter-Strike 2 tournament, and news about the Counter-Strike 2 Asia Championships 2025 (CAC 2025) was released following the tournament.
Not only did Team Spirit take its first Major championship title this year, but it also took it with the youngest MVP (and now Major champion) Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.
The Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 took almost two years to prepare for. According to the CEO of Perfect World Co., Sam Gu, the tournament was focused on the benefits that international esports events have. These events meet several needs of young people in these scenes, and they also help out local economies, particularly in tourism, cultural exchange, urban construction, and technology.
The semifinals for the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 saw performances from Hua Lian (Painted Face) and Ay Hei. Hua Lian performed the first Chinese-language Counter-Strike music kit, and Ay Hei performed the first music kit that was in a Chinese minority language.
Gu elaborated a bit on the goals of the tournament:
“Our goal was to create a world-class tournament that attracts global attention while integrating Chinese cultural elements and Shanghai’s unique charm.”
Additionally, Perfect World Esports announced its plans for the Counter-Strike 2 Asia Championships 2025. It will feature 16 teams that will compete in China. To get there, teams will have to qualify at regional online events in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
