When Palworld launched for PS5 a few days ago, it quietly skipped Japan, and many were quick to see the long arm of Nintendo behind the absence of a Japanese release. Yet, the game arrived on Japanese PS5 consoles today, less than two weeks after the rest of the world.

While pundits, analysts, and a variety of widely reported “experts” have been scrambling to theorize that Nintendo’s recent lawsuit is going to have all sorts of terrible effects on developer PocketPair, the Tokyo-based company appears to be intent to continue running its business as usual.

Today they announced the Japanese PS5 release on the official Discord server, and it’s currently available on the Japanese PlayStation Store. Local PS5 players appear to have appreciated, as the game has a popular score of 4.87 stars out of 5, with 93% of 4685 players voting five stars.

PocketPair apologized for the delay, vowing to “continue to make attractive and large-scale updates to the PS5 version” so that players are able to enjoy it even more.

Palworld is currently available for PC, Xbox, and PS5, on top of Game Pass. As the game is in early access, its developers have been updating it consistently, improving the game and adding more content.

Recently, its developers at PocketPair responded to rumors that they could shift to a free-to-play business model, clarifying that such a move is not going to happen, while the launch of skins and DLC in the future is being considered to help support development.
