According to the documents provided by the Kyoto-based company, the Switch 2 has shipped to retailers 10.36 million units in four months, between its release on June 5 and September 30.

The original Nintendo Switch also continues to sell, to an extent, and its lifetime sales have been updated to 154.01 million units as of September 30.

We also get an update about lifetime software sales for both consoles. Nintendo Switch 2 games have shipped 20.62 million units, while Switch games have shipped 1,452.79 million units.

Of course, we also hear about the actual financial results for the company. Sales for the first half of the fiscal year were 1,099.5 billion yen, up 110.1% year-on-year.

Operating profit was 145.1 billion yen, up 19.5% year-on-year.

Nintendo has also changed its forecasts for the full fiscal year, which will end in March 2026. The company initially expected to sell 15 million units, but that number has been significantly increased to 19 million units. The forecast for software has also been changed from 45 million to 48 million units.

Expectations have changed for the old Switch as well, with a bit less hardware (4 million units instead of 4.5 million) and a lot more software, 125 million units instead of 105.

This has led to a change in financial forecasts for the full fiscal year, from 1,900 billion yen to 2,250 billion yen in sales and from 320 billion yen to 370 billion yen in operating profit.

In terms of specific video game sales, Mario Kart World shipped 9.57 million units, while Donkey Kong Bananza shipped 3.49 million units.

If you’d like to compare these results with historical data, you can read our report about the past quarter, based on data released in August.

Other gaming companies have already announced their financial results this quarter, including Koei Tecmo, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Microsoft, Konami, and Marvelous. You can expect plenty more reports on this topic in the coming days and weeks.
