Today Aquaplus hosted the first day of its 30th Anniversary Festival in Japan and had news to share about the beloved Utawarerumono series and more.
First of all, a new Utawarerumono game is in development, titled “Utawarerumono: Shiro e no Michishirube,” which translates into “Signpost to White.”
The game will be released in 2025, but no platforms were announced. Three screenshots were revealed via press release and you can check them out below.
The original concept and scenario writing will be done by Munemitsu Suga, who has been working on the series since the beginning. The character design is by mi, with the original character design by Tatsuki Amaduyu and Misato Mitsumi, while the music is directed by Naoya Shimokawa.
The opening theme “Tsuki no Fune Miagete” (Look up to the Moon Boat) will be performed by Suara.
Yet, there’s more, as a name that we haven’t heard for quite a while has been uttered once again. Development on the visual novel Jasmine has resumed. Fans with a very long memory will remember that the game was canceled in 2015.
The original scriptwriter Yuichi Suzumoto is back (you may know him for his work on Key’s visual novels Air, Clannad, and Planetarian: The Reverie of a Little Planet), while the character design is by Hisashi Kawata.
No release dates or platforms have been shared about Jasmine, so we’ll have to wait and see. Yet, you can check out its lovely key art below.
If you’re unfamiliar with Aquaplus, it’s a Japanese developer and publisher mainly known for many beloved visual novels. Recently, it announced a remake of the legendary visual novel To Heart (about which we should hear more tomorrow).
It’s also collaborating with Netease on the new IP Rusty Rabbit.
