The developers of the massive Skyrim mod Skywind have published a long video showcasing their progress in remaking the beloved The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

The video shows off the Rescue Joncis Dalomax quest, providing an extensive look at almost 20 minutes of gameplay.

We also get an update on the progress made with the mod, which doesn’t have a release date just yet.

All 2D art for the base game is complete, and currently, the developers are working on extra assets. The same can be said for the writing.

The spellcrafting and character creation UIs are close to complete. Almost all essential creatures have been modeled, and the last three tilesets are in progress or about to be finalized.

Strong progress has been made on creature animations. Asset implementation is progressing slowly as 3D tasks are being completed. 60% of interiors are complete, while a few areas of the exteriors are still in progress, and work on the navmesh is progressing steadily.

In the field of visual effects, good progress has been made on weather and spell VFX is 75% complete. For sound effects, all foley for armor is complete, and the developers are now working on creatures and ambient sounds.

Quest implementation and playtesting are progressing steadily. In the field of voice acting, the last few roles need to be filled, including Dagoth Ur, Vivec, and Yagrum, while this has been the most productive year yet for voice-over mastering, with the devs working on documentation and workflow.

Filecutting is also progressing steadily, while the team is looking for composers for the combat music.

You can watch the gameplay below. If you’d like to know how you can help, you can find more info on the official website.

This certainly has been a hot year for The Elder Scrolls games, with an official remake of TES IV: Oblivion released and another made by fans coming later this year.

Skywind aims to do the same with TES III: Morrowind, providing a completely remade version in TES V: Skyrim’s engine. If you’d like to see more, you can enjoy an earlier gameplay reveal.

Unfortunately, it’s still going to be a while before we can play The Elder Scrolls VI, but at least fans have something to keep them busy while they wait.
