Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 brings you closer to the action by letting you perform a pre-flight inspection on your aircraft with what pilots call a “walk-around.”

Basically, you can walk around the aircraft checking out the various parts for wear and tear (which will accumulate as you fly), opening and closing hatches, and removing protective covers and wheel chocks.

Not only this is something that pilots actually do in the real world (with some caveats), but it provides you with a new perspective on your aircraft, and a new sense of scale that isn’t present in other simulators.

In MSFS 2024, you’re effectively the pilot, while in previous simulators you’re basically the aircraft. This changes the perspective quite radically, and in my opinion, improves immersion massively.

To see what I mean, you can check out the video below from our YouTube channel. If you enjoy it, please like and subscribe and perhaps leave a comment. Feedback always helps and it’s always welcome.

Of course, you should continue to stick around here on Simulation Daily, because there is going to be a lot more Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 coverage on the site over the next few days, including more gameplay footage.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be released for PC and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2024. You can find all the editions and the full list of aircraft they come with in our dedicated article.

If you’d like to read more, you can enjoy our hands-on preview with plenty of interesting details about the simulator for your perusal, our A-10 flight through the Grand Canyon, our first look at the extensive pilot customization, and another at the first mission of the Career Mode.

We also have an interview with Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann and Asobo CEO Sebastian Wloch, another with Asobo CCO David Dedeine, and one featuring Chris Burnett of Working Title and Brandon Yaeger of Got Friends about their work on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Full disclosure: Simulation Daily was invited to a Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 preview event in Grand Canyon Village, Arizona. Microsoft provided travel and accommodation.
