Today, Microsoft and Asobo released another batch of new content for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and MSFS 2020, and it comes at no additional cost.
The new content is another City Update (the 13th) that was actually supposed to come out in December 2025, but was delayed by about a month, pretty much displaced by the sheer amount of content and changes that came with the PS5 version and Sim Update 4.
The update is available for everyone who owns either simulator, and all you have to do is find it in the official marketplace. You can purchase it (for free) and download it. If you’re on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the download is optional, and you can simply stream it.
You can check out some of the vistas included in the update in the trailer below.
The update is quite large, especially for a City Update, and it includes 18 areas of interest enriched with TIN (triangulated irregular network), for a precise reproduction of the urban landscape.
We get Sacramento, plus San Rafael, Novato, Oakland, San Francisco, Fremont, and San Jose in the San Francisco Bay Area. The San Joaquin Valley includes Modesto, Fresno, and Visalia.
The Central Coast area gets Santa Maria and Santa Barbara, while the Greater Los Angeles Area enjoys the addition of Santa Clarita, Glendale, Los Angeles, Inglewood, Long Beach, Anaheim, and Irvine. Last, but not least the update also affects San Diego.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is currently available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. If you’d like to hear more about the simulator, you can watch our latest interview with Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann.
