Originally, JDM: Japanese Drift Master was going to be released later this month, on March 26, 2025. The developers cited an emphasis on quality as to why they decided to push back the date, as they believe they’ll need a bit of extra time to polish some of the gameplay elements so that they can deliver the best game possible from the outset.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master takes the players to an open-world, fictional Japanese prefecture – Guntama. The world features over 250 km of roads, famous tourist landmarks, legendary car enthusiast spots, and more for you to explore with brands like Nissan, Subura, and Mazda.

Alongside plenty of cars to choose from and an exciting world to explore, the game also features a narrative told through in-game events and manga to give it a unique feel and ambiance. The story mode revolves around Touma, a Polish driver who dreams of making a name for himself on the local street racing scene.

With some help from his Japanese friends and some sick cars, Touma faces plenty of competition, developing rivals and even finding love along the way. You can get a tease of what to expect by playing the free prologue on Steam, which follows Hatori “Scorpion” Hatashi, one of the best racers in Japan, and also features an opening that pays homage to the king of anime and manga drifting, Initial D.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master will be available exclusively on Steam upon its release later this year.
