In the previous tuning guide for JDM: Japanese Drift Master Gaming Factory broke down the general importance of tuning and modifying vehicles to get the best possible equipment for your individual playing style. Grip is another important area of customization when creating your car, as it makes the difference between a good drift and a perfect one.

While you might automatically just think Tires when it comes to grip, you also need to take into account setup for the Engine, Suspension, Powertrain, Brakes, and Nitrous. You can see a sneak peek of tuning each in the video below.

Starting with the engine, you’ll want to have the best possible ECU, strong Intake and Exhaust, and powerful Internals and Boost. Unsurprisingly, Suspension in these builds is all about being low and stable while also featuring stiffer sway bars and adjustable control arms for the best output.

For Powertrain, you’ll want a sport clutch and an adjustable gearbox, but you’ll have to experiment with gear ratios to see which fits your style of driving. Brakes and Tires are the backbone of drifting, so be sure to choose the best possible variant to help you get the best grip. Lastly, Nitrous not only looks cool, but it will make those drifts even faster.

It is important to note that each car will have its own progression level. As you progress through the game and win races, more parts will become available to improve your car even further.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master

JDM: Japanese Drift Master takes the players to an open-world, fictional Japanese prefecture – Guntama. The world features over 250 km of roads, famous tourist landmarks, legendary car enthusiast spots, and more for you to explore with brands like Nissan, Honda, and Mazda.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master is set to release exclusively for PC via Steam on May 21, 2025.
