inZOI, the Sims competitor that released in Early Access last week, has hit 1 million copies sold in that brief period of time.

The highly anticipated life sim garnered attention before it went into Early Access, partly because of its graphics and character creator. Krafton, the developer behind inZOI, also gave players multiple chances to try out the creative side of the game in demos before its release, starting back in August 2024. It’s a massive upgrade from The Sims 4, which is the biggest (and really only) competitor in the market.

Part of what makes inZOI stand out is its intense customization. Players can create everything from their own textures to their own emotes, and they can even use an in-game 3D printer to create anything they want. These things can all be uploaded into Canvas, which is essentially Krafton’s multiplayer marketplace. Of course, players can also shop for homes, outfits, and more on Canvas, too.

This player-forward attitude has been at the forefront of Krafton’s mind. In fact, it revealed that it delayed inZOI because of intense player expectations when it announced inZOI’s roadmap. However, it doesn’t look like they were held back much by this — the 1 million inZOI copies sold seem to prove the opposite.

The roadmap shows that Krafton has a lot it wants to do within the next year, including:

  • Modding kits
  • Ghosts
  • More customization in Zois, outfits, building, and city customizing
  • More parenting functions
  • Family tree
  • Moving cities

It’s continued to listen to the community, as well. Denuvo, an anti-piracy program that’s known for causing problems with games that use it, was taken out of inZOI after community backlash, and hotfixes have dropped already to improve the game.

inZOI is currently available in Early Access on PC via Steam. Throughout the Early Access period, all DLC and major updates will be free.
