Today, Rockstar Games announced that its highly anticipated action-adventure title, GTA6, has officially been delayed until November 16, 2026.
This is a considerable delay from the initial release of May 26, 2026, with the developers promising that the “extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” This is the second delay the game has received since it was announced, as it originally has a release window of 2025.
Rockstar also followed up by saying how incredibly excited for players to experience Leonida and a return to modern-day Vice City, thanking fans for their patience in the meantime.
It’s been twelve years since GTA5 was released, and as more time passes, player expectations continue to rise. Since its release, Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold over 210 million copies, meaning that the next installment has a lot to live up to even without that time gap.
The sequel will follow two main characters, Jason and Lucia, showcasing their relationship and wild adventures throughout modern-day Vice City. We got a good look at what to expect from them back in May, with the teaser featuring plenty of action, explosions, partying, guns, plane fights, road chases, boat races, and heart-pumping action that fans of the series know and love.
If you simply can’t wait for GTA6 to release, you can also rewatch the first trailer here, which shows off more of the world that GTA6 is set in more than anything else. When it does release, the next Grand Theft Auto will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
