Black Myth: Wukong

Today the results of the Golden Joystick Awards have been announced, and Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong triumphed winning the Ultimate Game of the Year Award.

The game inspired by Journey to the West also brought the Best Visual Design award back to China.

Other notable awards assigned during the livestreamed show were the Critics’ Choice Award, Best Multiplayer Game, and Best Console Game for Helldivers 2, while Final Fantasy VII Rebirth won awards for both Lead and Supporting Performers on top of Best Storytelling and Best Soundtrack.

Perhaps inevitably, Grand Theft Auto 6 is the Most Wanted Game of 2025.

It’s worth mentioning that the Golden Joystick Awards distinguish themselves from most other awards because the vast majority of its results are determined by the votes of customers.

Other awards usually lean toward the opinions of critics or developers. For example, the Game Awards only assigns 10% of the weight of its results to customers, while 90% is held by critics and influencers.
