The Global Esports Federation (GEF) puts on the GET in several cities around the world throughout the year. However, GET Mumbai 2025 is the first time the event will be held in India.

Last year, GEF signed a Strategic Framework Agreement with Skillhub Online Games Federation, or SOGF. SOGF is an organization in India focused on expanding esports in South Asia, including India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

It works with several international groups to build and grow esports in the region that benefit everyone involved, like athletes and content creators as well as developers and esports organizations.

Rustam Aghasiyev, GEF Chief of Staff and Operations, shared excitement for GET Mumbai 2025:

“The Global Esports Tour’s arrival in India is a defining moment for the Global Esports Federation. Our commitment to expanding esports opportunities globally remains steadfast, and our partnership with Skillhub Online Games Federation underscores our shared vision of fostering a truly inclusive and interconnected esports ecosystem.”

The Chief Executive Officer of SOGF, Sibtain Baqri, also expressed why the Global Esports Tour is important for Mumbai:

“We are honored to welcome the Global Esports Tour to India, a historic milestone for our thriving esports community. This tournament elevates India’s competitive ecosystem, provides a global stage for our athletes, and fosters cross-cultural connections within esports. It’s not just an event but a catalyst for growth, inspiring athletes, and positioning India as a global esports powerhouse. SOGF is committed to driving this momentum forward with even bigger initiatives, ensuring India’s esports journey reaches new heights.’”

GET Mumbai 2025 hasn’t released dates or games that it will include in the tournament yet. However, past GET tournaments have featured DOTA 2, eFootball PES, and Street Fighter. GET will also head to Italy, Istanbul, Baku, Brazil, Lima, and the USA. It will also visit Qatar in 2027 and Azerbaijan in 2028.

The GEF expressed last year that 2025 would be focused on growth. Just a few days ago, the group announced that it was adding GAKU, a youth technology organization, to its list of Global Impact Partners. The collaborations with SOGF and GAKU are tailored to creating and growing inclusive esports environments. They’re part of the #worldconnected Together initiative from GEF.
