Gamescom 2025 is fast approaching, and this year’s event is bigger than ever, breaking the event’s records with 11% more exhibitors than it had this time last year.
Gamescom is already the world’s biggest gaming festival, and it’s been anticipating record-breaking numbers for a while now. Back in March, a new record for early-bird exhibitor registrations was set with 27% more registrations compared to last year.
Now, as the event is getting closer and exhibitions are being confirmed, there are 11% more than there were last year. This includes the following recently confirmed exhibitors: CI Games, Disney+, Electronic Arts, Giants Software, Headup, Kalypso, Konami, Lego, Level Infinite, Marvelous Europe, Netflix, Paramount, Sega, and Tencent Games.
The groups are joining the previously confirmed exhibitors: 2K, 9gag, aerosoft, astragon, Asus, Bandai Namco, Beans Entertainment, Bethesda, Bilibili, Blizzard Entertainment, Capcom, CD Projekt Red, Fandom, Focus Entertainment, Freaks 4U Gaming, HoYoverse, Inven, Meta Quest, Nintendo, Pearl Abyss, Roblox, Samsung, Super Crowd, team17, The Game Business, The Pokémon Company, Ubisoft, Wargaming, Webedia, and Xbox.
The increase in exhibitions has led to a new hall being added for gamescom 2025. The indie area is expanding as well, taking up half of a hall for the first time in the event’s history. Visitors will be able to use a new digital location finder app to help navigate the larger space.
Along with this news comes several announcements of what will be highlighted during gamescom 2025. For starters, Opening Night Live will be hosted by Eefje Depoortere and Geoff Keighley. The first confirmed partner for Opening Night Live is Activision, which will release the worldwide reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
Other presentations throughout Gamescom 2025 include The Witcher in Concert, a cosplay contest, and two esports events, among other things.
Director of Gamescom Tim Endres shared his excitement and ambitions for Gamescom 2025 following the record-breaking exhibitors:
“The figures speak for themselves. gamescom 2025 will be bigger, more thrilling and once again the beating heart of the global gaming community. Together with the industry and strong partners, we are set to captivate fans and set new standards.”
Felix Falk, the Managing Director of Game — The German Games Industry Association, also shared excitement for the upcoming event:
“Preparations for gamescom 2025 are in full swing, and while there are still a few weeks to go, one thing is for sure – at the end of August, the gaming world will once again gather in Germany for the most spectacular and diverse gamescom yet.”
Gamescom 2025 is scheduled for August 20 to August 24, with the Opening Night Live on August 19. It’ll be held in Cologne, like in previous years.
