Today Square Enix announced the release date of the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV update 7.1 titled “Crossroads.”
The update, which was presented with plenty of details back in September and about which we’re going to hear more today, will release on the live servers on November 12.
Alongside the announcement, we also get to see a trailer, providing the first look at what we can expect in terms of story and content.
As usual, the trailer can be considered slightly dotted with spoilers (Japanese developers tend to have a different idea of what may be considered a spoiler than many of us do), so watch it at your own risk.
Incidentally, below you can watch the English version, while the version with Japanese voice-overs can be enjoyed on the official YouTube channel if you prefer it.
Besides the story moments, we get to see hints of the upcoming alliance raid, titled “Echoes of Vana’Diel” and tied up with the super-popular and basically immortal predecessor of Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XI.
Those who have played the game will certainly recognize several locations and some of the characters and bosses, but again, I won’t mention more to avoid sharing accidental spoilers.
Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. The new expansion, titled “Dawntrail” was released in early July.
Lately, we also saw interesting screenshots of new features shown at PAX West and even more images and details were shared a few weeks ago during the Seoul Fan Festival in South Korea.
