Today, SCS Software revealed a new feature coming to both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator in update 1.59.
While updates for the two simulators proceed in parallel, they don’t always come with the same features and content, but Tow to Road will be common.
It’ll do pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. If you’re stuck, you can press F7 for the service menu and call someone to tow you back to your last safe position on the road.
If you disconnect the trailer, only the truck will be towed, and the option becomes unavailable if you drive too far from your last safe position on the road.
The service will cost you some money and time.
The Tow to Service feature will remain, as that’s expected to be used when you damage your truck and you can’t continue your drive.
You can see how it works in the screenshots below. We don’t yet know when update 1.59 will hit.

If you’re unfamiliar with Euro Truck Simulator 2, it’s a truck-driving simulator available for PC, but PS5 and Xbox versions have been recently announced.
The Iceland DLC was revealed a few months ago, and you can enjoy additional screenshots, in addition to its churches, the Ring Road, the coastlines, and Keflavík.
The last national DLC announced a few weeks ago focuses on Ireland.
The development team is also hard at work updating relevant areas of the map, starting with the Benelux region’s rework, of which we also recently saw the port of Rotterdam, the city of Brussels, Luxembourg, Antwerp, Eindhoven, Groningen, the Gas Stations, and Amsterdam. The UK is also being reworked.
Last, but not least, there’s the Coaches DLC, and we recently saw its bus stations, the Scania Touring, passenger satisfaction, the MAN Lion’s Coach, and the Volvo 9700 Double Decker.
American Truck Simulator is also available for PC, and it’s the sister game to Euro Truck Simulator 2. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are also coming.
Illinois is likely the next DLC, and you can check out its truck stops, the city of Marion, Rockford, Quincy, even more truck stops, Moline, Peoria, Champaign, the prairies, Bloomington, water bodies, more settlements, and Murals. We also recently got an extensive gameplay showcase.
South Dakota should come afterward, and we already saw its Truck Stops, countryside, towns, cities, more Truck Stops, the road network, and more settlements.
The game will soon cross the borders of the United States and go to Canada with the British Columbia DLC.
Another big project is the Road Trip feature, spearheaded by the Ford Car Pack (of which we also saw the Ford Crown Victoria and the Ford F-150), which will expand the simulator’s experience from trucks to cars and pickup trucks, including pure exploration and the delivery of smaller packages.
