Square Enix hosted the first day of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Seoul, Korea. Despite the regional nature of the event, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida managed to sneak in some details and images during the initial keynote which are basically world premieres.
We start with the new content for gatherers and crafters showcased during the livestreamed event. It’s now titled “Cosmo Explorer” and we first got to see two pieces of artwork that were showcased at the other regional Fan Festival in China but with much better resolution, followed by two new ones.
Funnily, Yoshida-san mentioned “I wonder if this will be another Rankingard” referring to the previous Ishgard restoration content and teased the audience a bit on this theme, mentioning that he’s not sure whether rankings will be implemented or not.
When he displayed the new artwork, he explained that the area is pretty large, so the first shows some kind of teleportation device. The second shows some manner of Mecha and Yoshida-san stressed that the illustration includes the size comparison with a Roegadyn.
Interestingly, he then showcased a new screenshot portraying what appears to be Fafnir from the alliance raid Eches of Vana’diel inspired by Final Fantasy XI, mentioning that the team wanted players to have a challenging experience, so they have set a certain level of difficulty that would make things exciting.
We then move on to the field content, which is now named Crescent Isle. Alongside an illustration of the area, Yoshida-san showcased pixel art of the jobs from Final Fantasy V, adding that there are a lot of jobs that have never appeared in XIV. He’d like fans to speculate and discuss what these jobs could mean.
Lastly, we get to see a “wandering artist” glamour that will be released in Korea first and then reach the worldwide servers at a later time.
Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. The new expansion, titled “Dawntrail” was released in early July.
Lately, we heard the first information about patch 7.1, while additional screenshots of new features were shown at PAX West.
