To ring in the new year, the official Final Fantasy X account (formerly known as Twitter) shared that Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles has sold 1 million copies since it was released barely three months ago.
Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles was released on September 30, 2025, though it’s a remaster of the original Final Fantasy Tactics from 1997. The tactical, turn-based RPG follows the story of Ivalice, a kingdom that’s in a power struggle after a toddler is due to rule.
The latest version of the game has an enhanced and classic version. The enhanced version includes better graphics, fully-voiced dialogue, and more gameplay mechanics to optimize the experience. It also has a Squire difficulty for newcomers to the game or genre.
The classic version of the game gives those who loved the original a way to go back and experience it. It includes the graphics, gameplay, and War of the Lions translation (from the PlayStation Portable version released in 2007) for original players.
Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles saw critical success, too. While selling over 1 million copies in just three months, it also won Best Sim/Strategy Game at The Game Awards 2025 (though, admittedly, the category highlights a key problem of gaming award celebrations — more on that here).
With that said, Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles’ 1 million copies sold is a great milestone to start 2026 with.
Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
