According to the announcement made on X (formerly Twitter), the release date has been shifted to spring 2026.

The game was supposed to launch this year, according to the announcement made almost a year ago. The developers have been working hard to make it in time, but ultimately decided it needed more time in the oven.

Specifically, this is to deliver a “higher quality, more satisfying game to the fans.”

The platforms remain unchanged, PC, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

If you’re unfamiliar with Fate/Extra Record, it’s a remake of the original Fate/Extra, a JRPG originally released in 2010 for Sony’s PSP. It’s particularly beloved among the fans as the first RPG of the Fate series.

The remake was announced several years ago in 2020 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original game.

If you want to take a look at the game, you can watch a teaser trailer and a more extensive one released last year.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Fate series, it originally debuted in 2004 with Fate/stay night, and it has been Type-Moon’s household name for two decades.

Recently, Type-Moon released the remaster of the original game, Fate/stay night Remastered, while we’re still waiting for Fate/hollow ataraxia Remastered.

While the original was an adult game, the franchise has since shifted to an all-ages target. This is quite common among Japanese franchises that started as eroge, especially when releasing on consoles or getting anime adaptations.

Its popularity has grown exponentially over the years, culminating with the mobile game Fate/Grand Order, which still enjoys a massive audience in Japan and worldwide. Incidentally, today’s event is the annual convention dedicated to FGO in Japan.
