Elite Dangerous Reveals New and Massive Panther Clipper Mk II Ship

The developers of the space simulator Elite Dangerous at Frontier Developments revealed a brand-new ship coming to the game.

The Panther Clipper Mk II is manufactured by Zorgon Peterson and is described as the ultimate trader, colossal in size and capable of hauling a massive amount of cargo.

The MK II stands for the fact that this is actually an evolution of an iconic ship from Elite 2. Even there, the Panther Clipper was the biggest ship available in the game. It was so popular that it has been adopted over the years by the community as a meme.

It will be made available in Arx Early Access this summer, although we don’t know the specific date. That’ll be revealed at a later time.

Instead, we get plenty of concept art directly from Frontier, and you can check it out in the gallery below.

You can also check out an excerpt from the Frontier Unlocked stream in which the developers introduce the Panther Clipper MK II. It also includes a (fairly basic) animation showing off the ship’s 3D model flying in space.

This follows the release of another new ship, the Gutamaya Corsair.

Elite Dangerous is currently available for PC, Xbox One, and PS4, but the console versions are limited and aren’t getting recent expansions and updates, like the recent Trailblazers update.

The game was originally funded via a successful Kickstarter campaign all the way back in 2012 and has been in operation since 2014. In fact, it has recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary.
